starboard freeboard 90% done

At the start of the week I was cutting portholes, by the end of the week, the freeboards are up and fixed in place. Minus a few minor bits of fairing they are ready to be primed and painted. This makes me very happy.

The perspex porthole windows will go in later, followed by the brass trims.

I’ve already covered a lot of the work on the  freeboards, so I won’t go into all the detail again for the 5 people that read this, but there’s been a lot of work this week. Here’s an action montage Instagram photo for you.

The sides when faired (boat speak for little bits of filler and smoothing) will be covered in ‘International Interprotect’ epoxy 2 pack, then sanded ready for lots of white paint.

The rubbing strakes (wooden trim bits) will be fitted after everything is dry, then the stanchions (hand rails) will get bolted back in place.

What it was like before:

Now: (it still looks pretty grotty, but when painted will be all nice and white)

Thanks for looking (and no, that’s not faeces I’ve smeared on the boat at the top right, it’s brown epoxy filler). I’ll smear it in faeces later.
