new saloon floor goes in

The old floor in Perdita was a bit knackered, well a lot knackered. It was 9mm plywood that didn’t feel all that strong under foot. It was stained with various grot and grease. Given I’ve got plans to refit the interior, a sturdy new floor is needed. So I took out the old one, used the shapes as templates, made a few improvements and cut myself a new one.

The new floor is 18mm marine grade plywood that already looks and feels much better.

It’ll be coming up again in the next weeks as I’ll be cleaning and painting the bilges beneath it. Once the bilges are cleaned then sections of the floor will be fixed in place so that the interior fit out can start.

Here are some photos of what it looked it and what it looks like now.
