Cutting the new portholes

Spent a couple of hours today cutting the new portholes into the freeboards I removed yesterday.

Using the old perspex glass as a template I used the jigsaw to cut some elipse like shapes ready for the new glass. I’d already measured the positions whilst the boards were in situ.

The wooden section will be refitted on Monday ready for the epoxy work to start.

On the inside an elipse wooden trim will hide the edge and be a base for the screws from the outer shiny restored brass trim.

btw the bits of green is the old perspex glue that’s been affected by the brass outer porthole..
