Painting the saloon bilges and insulating the floor

I’ve cleaned and painted the saloon bilges on the port side and that’s meant I can get on with a little bit of insulation for the floor and fix certain panels down. (Some won’t be fixed as they’ll be inspection panels).

This is all good and means I’ve got a base to start framing furniture.

The insulation I’ve fixed in sandwich style is mostly to stop drafts and improve the noise of walking on the floor, there’s no wood rattle and any cold drafts created by the bilge blower won’t now come up into the saloon.

Painting bilges is not for everyone and there’s a load of pros and cons I’ve read about, for me it means that it’s clean and clear to work on and if needed investigating any problems is a little easier and you’re not covering yourself in shit.

Starboard side will be done next week ready for framing the galley.
