Amongst all the bits of wood and organic bacterial matter on Perdita, there’s an engine that’s in fairly good nick! Amazing. It’s a Chinese 1800cc TD-POWER diesel that generates a massive 40hp. I doubt it has ever seen 40hp or will ever see it, but it’s enough to chug her down the river at a reasonable speed.
The engine is a Chinese built job (hence the title), parts are apparently as easy to find as rocking horse shit in the UK.
Here’s a few pictures of the state of play, it’s cleaned up fairly well but there’s a lot to do post the oil change and rocker cover gasket that’ll be done soon.
The entire rear engine compartment and bilge area is going to get cleaned up and painted!
